Protect New River Valley Land by
selling on eBay!
eBay sellers can donate from 10% to 100% of the final sale price
of any item they sell to The New River Land Trust. eBay's Giving
Works is an exciting program that enables you to make a tax-deductible
contribution to the land trust through the sale of item(s)
on eBay.
How Does It Work?
For buyers, eBay Giving Works items are like any other items on
eBay, except you are assured that a valid nonprofit receives
a portion of the proceeds. For sellers, the difference is that
you pick a benefiting nonprofit and a percentage of the final
bid to share. As a seller, your donation is tax-deductible in
accordance with IRS rules. All items listed on eBay with a portion
donated to the New River Land Trust are marked with a charity
ribbon icon so buyers know they are supporting a good cause.
All Giving Works items appear in three categories for the price
of one: the eBay category you select, the eBay Giving Works category
and on the land trust’s MissionFish homepage.
To Start
It's easy to donate 10–100% when you sell on eBay, The World's
Online Marketplace®. All you need to get started is an eBay
seller account.
- Choose an item to sell–tickets to an
event, an antique, a collectible or anything of value.
- Start selling on eBay–sign into
your eBay account and click "SELL" to list an item
just like normal.
- Choose to donate–on the "Pictures & Details" area,
choose "Donate a percentage of sale" to launch the
eBay Giving Works feature.
- Select a nonprofit and donation percentage–find the
New River Land Trust in the MissionFish directory. If you're
a new eBay Giving Works user, you will have to complete
a one-time registration with MissionFish before you finish. Then
choose how much of your final sale price (10%–100%) you
would like to donate.
- Finish your listing–once you select
a nonprofit to benefit from your listing, review your listing
details and submit it as usual.
- Your listing will appear like normal but with
the eBay Giving Works icon, the name the New River Land Trust
and the percentage of the sale you are donating to us.
- Then you proceed as usual–respond to
buyer inquiries, collect payment, ship the item, and receive
feedback. MissionFish will collect your donation and forward
it to the New River Land Trust.
- MissionFish will provide you with a receipt
for your gift. MissionFish is a non-profit organization
that offers eBay buyers and sellers the opportunity to support
their favorite cause through trading on eBay.
